Workshops
Norfolk landscape photographers Kate Barclay and John Duckett are delighted to be running one day workshops in both the Norfolk Broads and on the Norfolk coast.
The workshops will concentrate on teaching the techniques needed to capture landscape images in the camera rather then relying on the computer afterwards. With a maximum of 8 guests per workshop Kate and John will have plenty of time for some one-to-one tuition for the novice but also the locations will challenge the more experienced photographer.
Workshop Follow-Up – For a period of 1 month following the workshop, you will be welcome to contact Kate and/or John for further guidance/advice on your photographic images.
Initially the workshops will be based at two locations
WORKSHOP ONE -
We will meet in the car park at Morston approximately ½ hour before sunrise (exact time to be confirmed in advance of workshop). Here we will catch the sun rising along the creek, this is one of my favourite places for a sunrise. There is a lot to photograph here with boats old and new moored along the creek, the beautiful saltmarshes and our dramatic big skies.
We will then head off to Wells beach where you can photograph the famous beach huts and sand dunes.
By now you will probably be getting hungry so we will head a few miles along the coast to The Marsh Larder at Holkham for a full cooked breakfast/brunch (included in the price) and a chance to discuss what you have learned so far and for us to answer any questions arising from the morning.

Then it is off to Brancaster Staithe where we will spend the rest of the day. Now is the chance to put into practice what you have learned during the morning, you will find old boats, crab pots and old buildings giving loads of opportunity for close-up work as well as big landscapes. This is also where we will catch the setting sun as it catches the boats on the creek.
At some point during the afternoon we will have a break for a hot drink and a snack.

WORKSHOP TWO -
We will meet just outside Ludham approximately 1/2 hour before sunrise (exact time to be confirmed in advance of the workshop), we then have a 15 minute walk along the river bank to where you can photograph 2 windpumps at sunrise – St Benet’s drainage mill, a brick built windpump and on the opposite bank the white windpump of Thurne. We will spend several hours here catching the sun rising across the river Thurne before moving on to the ruins of St Benet’s Abbey (Benedictine- founded 1020) on the edge of the river Bure which is a few minutes away by car.
By now it will be time for a full cooked late breakfast / lunch which we will have at a local café ( included in the price) and a chance to discuss what you have learned so far and for us to answer any questions arising from the morning. We will briefly show you how to convert raw images in two of the most popular raw converters, Adobe Lightroom and Capture 4 this will transform them from flat lifeless images to wonderful puncy pictures ready for printing or sending to photoshop.
We will then spend the rest of the afternoon at Turf Fen.
At some point during the afternoon we will have a break for a hot drink and a snack.
